In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), mulberry leaf, a source of alkaloids, flavonoids, and polysaccharides, is chiefly employed to combat diabetes. Still, the components within the mulberry plant display fluctuating characteristics, directly related to the diverse environments in which the plant is found. In view of this, the geographic source of a substance is a crucial factor, strongly linked to the bioactive component profile, further affecting the medicinal attributes and outcomes. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), a cost-effective and non-invasive technique, can produce comprehensive chemical profiles of medicinal plants, facilitating rapid determination of their geographical origins. Five representative Chinese provinces—Anhui, Guangdong, Hebei, Henan, and Jiangsu—were the sources of mulberry leaves for this research. SERS spectrometry provided a means to delineate the distinct spectral fingerprints of mulberry leaves' ethanol and water extracts. By integrating SERS spectral data with machine learning algorithms, mulberry leaves originating from various geographical locations were effectively differentiated with high accuracy; the convolutional neural network (CNN) deep learning algorithm exhibited the most promising results. Employing machine learning algorithms in conjunction with SERS spectra, our research established a new methodology for identifying the geographic origins of mulberry leaves. This method holds promise for improving the quality control, evaluation, and certification of mulberry leaves.

Important themes concerning HIV care, treatment, and prevention were identified by men, organized by the reproductive goals they presented; these included aspects at individual, couple, and community levels, both as opportunities and barriers. Motivated by the prospect of raising a healthy child, men work to maintain their own health. At the couple level, the value of a supportive partnership for raising children may promote serostatus disclosure, encourage testing, and spur men's support for their partners' access to HIV prevention. Men at the community level emphasized the significance of their perceived role as providers for their families, highlighting how this shaped their caregiving involvement. Men expressed hindrances, encompassing a shortage of information concerning antiretroviral-based HIV prevention methods, a deficiency in trust among partners, and the burden of community bias. The pursuit of reproductive well-being among men who have sex with men (MWH) could represent an unexplored avenue for increasing their engagement in HIV care and prevention programs, with positive implications for their partner's health.
